Professional support

In addition to the tasks defined by the project, several final works of students of sports and physical education in the field closely related to walking were done, in which the emphasis was primarily on:

  • Stay in nature;
  • Cultural and historical heritage;
  • Physical activitiy

The project idea of “ Hiking for Health and Longevity” is to increase the level of physical activity of seniors 65+. We are going to organize hiking/walking tours in all partner countries that will include local important places of cultural heritage. The hiking/walking tours are going connect sport activities with learning about cultural heritage. The project promotes the popularization of grassroots sport and physical activities for seniors 65+ offering them equal opportunities. Encourage social inclusion and equal opportunities is the main aim of the project, while the parallel aim is promote European cultural heritage. Sport activities are an important source for improving health, longevity and quality life. On the other hand, many important traditional natural and cultural heritage places are not well maintained and promoted.

This project preserves and promotes places of cultural heritage, contribute to their maintenance, promotion and help preserve them through making them popular sport places and inform a broader audience about the hiking/walking tours. By publishing a Guide of Good Practices and “Train the Guide” training program on e-learning platform of existing hiking/walking tours for seniors, combining sports activities with cultural heritage, decision-makers will gain generous suggestions for tourist ideas that can be implemented in future.This project promotes sports as hiking/walking that are accessible to seniors, regardless of income, which is very important to build a sport culture. This project can be easily replicated, enlarged and multiplied, in that it can become a model in building a multicultural partnership suitable for building European conditions that promote physical activities among seniors 65+ and help exchange knowledge of the cultural heritage of different European countries, while promoting social inclusion.

The methodology of planning and realization of excursions is in addition to solving tasks in the field of physical culture and connecting with other programs of the educational system. This project, although seen earlier, enables the connection of cultural and historical heritage between the participating countries as a novelty, which is a significant novelty that arises from it.
